Skinshape is the project of British musician, William Dorey (from Swanage, Dorset). His music is inspired by many genres, but in particular 1960s-70s funk, soul, psych, African music and folk, making for a unique and imaginative, yet classic sound. His most recent album Umoja features artists Modou Touré, Idd Aziz, and D'alma, bringing it further into the African world that he cherishes. Skinshape has just released new self-produced single, brilliantly titled 'Arrogance is the Death of Men'. Drum sounds are reminiscent of retro soul, whilst the guitar and bass are rooted in folk. Dorey's vocals are very authentically himself, giving an honesty that a lot of music lacks. Insightful and thoughtful, his lyrics questions male arrogance, 'we’re so young and brave we don’t care, we don’t need to think again, but that’s the trouble in the world today, arrogance is the death of men'. -Ellie Rose-Davies
